CSM Robotics Senior Division

February 4, 2017 - League Championship

This division uses the VEX Robotics Design System as the competition platform. Information about this system can be found here.

Each year (in April) a new challenge is announced for the competition. This year, the challenge is VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) Starstruck. Teams must build a robot to compete in the challenge. During the championship event, teams will be interviewed by judges for awards.

Tournament Structure

Competition game play rules are set by the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) game committee.

This year, there will again be separate divisions for both middle and high school teams. Teams will play qualification matches in scheduled league ranking sessions at local schools. The final ranking session will take place during the morning of the League Championship. The championship will be held at CSM on February 4, 2017.

The Middle School and High School VEX Leagues are officially recognized leagues affiliated with the VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) and REC Foundation. This partnership allows the winners of the tournament to represent Southern Maryland at the VRC State Championship. From there, winners will advance to the VRC World Championship.

More information about starting and coaching a team is available on their  VRC Teams webpage.

Volunteer Requirements

While there will be a large number of CSM staff, faculty, and students volunteering for this event, we still need many more helpers to host this large event.  All teams are required to provide at least one volunteer for one of the CSM championship robotics events. Volunteers may sign up on the Volunteer Signup page. The access code is csmrobotics.

Teams may register through RobotEvents. Registration fees and other costs may be paid for teams in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties. These costs are generously covered by the CSM Foundation STEM sponsors.  Teams in the tri-county area may contact the college for more specific information about registration and costs.
